Decimals Maths Activity: A Ticket to Space Maths Project Years 4-6
This fun activity will have your students love learning about decimals in a space themed activity. In this maths project your students have won a golden ticket to space, but they will first need to collect a variety of objects for their journey about Rocket365! To figure out what these objects are they will need to solve a series of maths clues which focus on decimals.
The activities included are:
1. Which object to take? Rounding decimals to whole numbers.
2. Moonboots. A simple adding of decimals using a number line.
3. Animals in Space? – Addition of whole numbers and decimals.
4. Space Jam. Ordering of numbers with decimals by value.
5. The emergency button. Using the greater than and less than symbols with decimals.
6. Camera money. Subtraction with decimals.
There are also a number of extension and extra activities which include:
- A trip to space, writing activity.
- Spacecraft decimal addition math maze.
- Describe the Alien!
- Colour by number rocket (decimal addition)
- Design a Moonbase.
