This set of discussion questions and creative activities will help you to emphasise the values of hard work, perseverance, and goal-setting through a real-world context. It also ensures your Māori students have visible heroes to look up to and learn from. With 49 Māori superstars, you can explore a different iconic Māori each week of the school year. This resource is easy to integrate into the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum.

Our aim with the activities that we have provided is to be purposely and intentionally inclusive. For this reason, rather than focusing heavily on reading and writing activities, we have provided a wide range of discussion activities AND creative, hands-on, and collaborative activities. These activities help students to dive deeper into the themes of each story and do not block any student participation due to their reading or writing level.
