This resource provides follow-up activities for the 36 current Ready to Read Shared Texts and Big Books found in New Zealand schools. An engaging format is used to develop your students’ sense of agency and independence – perfect for your reading rotations.
The activities have been carefully designed to enhance the teaching that occurs in shared reading and to give independent practice of the reading skills taught.
These activities meet many of the requirements for the New Zealand Literacy Skills Progressions for Reading. These are skills that your students need!
This set of Ready to Read Activities for Shared Texts and Big Books is provided in A4 paper size and British spelling. Instructions are provided to help you add these activities to Seesaw.
In this pack you will receive:
1. 72 engaging follow-up activities (two per shared text or big book):
  • There are also QR codes for students to listen to the book again and decoding and writing practice activities.
  • Each book in the series is available to schools as a big book, accompanied by small book versions for students to read and enjoy when they are very familiar with the big book version. As well as shared reading texts, these books can also be used as part of a guided reading program.
2. A range of engaging activities including:
  • Creating new words using letter tiles
