Description

The activities have been created to specifically support the teaching and learning of the target sound and letter /n/.

With initial modelling and scaffolding, these activities are intended to be completed independently to build students’ skills in following instructions, fine motor skills and stamina to complete tasks.

This Phonics and Structured Literacy Activities: Focus Sound N resource includes:

Three practice activities:

  • Colour-Sound Match: Students look at pictures and find and colour words that have the /n/ sound. Students count and write how many pictures contain the /m/ sound.
  • Match the Words: Students draw lines to match the target words (starting with the target sound) to the pictures on the right. Students write each letter sound in the word underneath the picture.
  • Ending sounds: Students add the target letter to the end of each word. Students draw a picture to match the new word.

One hands-on activity:

  • Spin and Cover
