Phonics and Structured Literacy Activities: Consonant Digraph -NG

Description

The activities have been created to specifically support the teaching and learning of the consonant digraph ‘-NG’.

With initial modelling and scaffolding, these activities are intended to be completed independently to build students’ skills in following instructions, fine motor skills and stamina to complete tasks.

Three practice activities:

• Match the Words: Students draw lines to match the target words (ending with the target sound) to the pictures on the right. Students write each letter sounds in the word underneath the picture.
• Ending sounds: Students add the target letters to the end of each word. Students draw a picture to match the new word.
• Handwriting: Students trace over the lines to practice the letters and words containing the target sound.
