The activities have been created to specifically support the teaching and learning of the consonant digraph ‘ch’.
With initial modelling and scaffolding, these activities are intended to be completed independently to build students’ skills in following instructions, fine motor skills and stamina to complete tasks.

Three practice activities:
- I Spy: Students look for and circle all words, pictures and letters that start with the target sound. Words are chin, chick, think, chips, thumb, three, cheese, chop, chocolate, chair, third, cherry, chain, thunder, chicken, church.
- Making Words with the Target Sound: Students write the target letters in each box, read the word they have created and draw a picture that matches the word. This activity also targets word-level comprehension.
- Decode and Draw: Students decode and read each sentence. Students draw a picture that matches each sentence.
