The purpose of this resource is to provide an engaging and motivating way for students to explore the story and articles from School Journal Level 3 November 2022.
1. Five x Lesson plans
A lesson plan is provided for each story or article covered in this resource
2. Five x Follow Up Activity Sheets
A one-page activity sheet is provided for each story or article covered in this resource.
Each activity sheet contains a range of reading comprehension strategies including:
  • Use prior knowledge
  • Find information
  • Use vocabulary
  • Make connections
  • Retell the story
  • Summarise
  • Critical thinking
a) Apply Your Knowledge links
These links provide further activities and ideas to help students explore the topic of the story or article further. QR codes and web links are provided so students can visit websites, and watch video clips.
b) Five Creative/Design activities
These activities challenge students to use higher-order thinking to synthesise their knowledge and create something new.
3. Paper-based and digital activities are provided
This resource is provided in both paper-based and digital form (Google Slides).
